Mabel
UPDATE MABEL HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
This sweet girl is healing well from her spay, nares and soft palate surgery and is ready for her forever home!

This 11 month old girl was thankfully saved by a good Samaritan who got her out of a puppy mill situation. Mabel was completely shut down and terrified when she arrived. She wasn't house trained, leash trained nor had she  received much socialization at all. She has definitely come a long way in a short time! Mabel is the sweetest little muffin you will ever meet! She takes a day to warm up to strangers but when she does she will wiggle her entire body and show you her belly when she sees you! She seems to prefer women to men. Mabel is best suited for a quiet home that doesn't have a lot of action and noise. She needs a gentle and patient person who will encourage her and give her lots and lots of love!

Here is what foster mom had to say about her:
Mabel is such a loving and sweet character, she just wants all the affection.
She is hesitant of new people at first. She may bark at first, but with patience and respecting her space, she will begin to follow you around then happily accept your cuddles. Visitors are usually fast friends after 1-2 days.
As soon as you wake up Mabel is ready for her first round of cuddles and belly scratches!
She will force you to give her more pats and snuggles thanks to her big eyes and by repeatedly pawing your arm, she will also sometimes (very gently) take your hand in her mouth and place it in the desired pat position for you!
She does very cute « talking » when she wants attention, soft woofing, cooing and jabbering.
She now loves a walk! Will happily step into her harness and is excellent on leash.
She has good recall, and will walk to heel when asked.
She is good with other dogs, if a bit wary at first. Shows no aggression while on walks.
Not a fan of being approached by people on walks, but isn’t scared to walk by people - she just saves her love for those close to her.
Mabel really likes cats! She would do well with a cat in the family for company, a willing playmate on occasion.
Good with basic commands, but more training is required (especially to not jump up when excited, her enthusiasm often gets the best of her - but she is learning!)
She loves to play catch, loves a good ball!
Mabel can be a bit picky with food. She's not a big fan of kibble or treats unless they are of the freeze dried or cooked meat variety. We recently started her on a raw diet and she loves it. She likes cucumbers and carrots as snacks.
Mabel doesn't have separation anxiety when you leave, but is SO EXCITED when you return home! Will wiggle, jump and do circles around you to welcome you home. We are working on calming this behavior because she can get too excited.
Mabel is not housetrained and will need ongoing training, Sadly she has severe trauma around relieving herself in the presence of people. She does now go potty on pee pads in front of me, but is more comfortable going when you are away or asleep. We have been working on getting her to go outside and she occasionally uses the patio but seems only comfortable going on hard surfaces. Her adopter will need to continue training and be extremely patient with her.
Mabel is not a big fan of crates, we are working on getting her comfortable with them but she is not destructive, and quite calm when left alone for a couple of hours.
She's also not a big fan of car rides, but will usually sleep through them - unless you are driving on bumpy/gravel roads then she will be more alert and nervous.
Mabel isn't very vocal as far as barking goes but she will bark when someone comes to the door or if she is startled.
All this girl wants is to love and be loved
Good luck Mabel on finding your forever family, they’ll be so lucky!
