Update November 30, 2022
So who was that mystery naughty dog we picked up in New Brunswick?

Yep, he's baaaaack! We were really hoping that Jellybean was off to live his best life, but it was not meant to be. As much as his adoptive Mom wanted it to be, Jellybean wasn't having it. He started displaying behaviours that we've never seen before from him and his resource guarding just escalated and escalated.

Having a certified trainer to work with Jellybean was part of his adoption agreement but unfortunately there were difficulties in that area and Jellybean just didn't seem like he was settling at all. His adopter was willing to keep trying but Jellybean was not, when he broke her trust by biting her we knew we had to bring him back. So we did.

We will have him evaluated by a behavioural vet and continue the training we were doing with our trainers here.

Once he was back with his foster he was back to his normal, happy self. He happily went into his crate and slept on his favourite blanket as soon as he got home. Something he wouldn't do the entire time he was gone. Perhaps Jellybean has chosen his person even though his foster didn't want a dog, she just wanted to foster! Sorry, Annie, I think you have a dog!

Now that he has bitten we need to make sure that we do everything we can so that he doesn't do that again. Orphaned puppies are known for behavioural issues like this so we will do everything in our power to give Jellybean and his (forever) foster all the tools necessary for him to live his best life. Just the bevioural vet consultations can run close to $1000 plus the ongoing work with a certified trainer, this isn't going to be cheap! He didn't fight this hard to survive just to have us give up on him, we hope you won't either!

ECFBR was contacted to take in this little guy who was born on Monday with a cleft palate.
Without hesitation our director jumped in the car and went to get him!
This tiny boy needs to be tube fed and cared for around the clock and thankfully we are fortunate enough to have an amazing volunteer willing to do that!
We hope to build up his strength and help him grow until we can have him seen by a specialist. No doubt, he will need a lot of care!
Please help us help him by donating towards his care!
