Marcel is a happy-go-lucky boy who loves being around people! He is fine with other dogs and cats as long as they don’t mind being chased! He is fine as an only dog but he can probably live with a well balanced dog who will be patient with his goofy and sometimes awkward social interactions. Marcel absolutely loves kids and likes to sit on their legs when they are on the floor. Sometimes if he gets too excited, he has tendency to want to lick them in the face or jump on their back if they are too close to the floor, so to keep everyone safe we are looking for a home with dog savvy and respectful children over 6.

While Marcel loves his play tent he is not a fan of being crated. He has some mild anxiety when left alone but he does settle down quickly. He may Frenchie scream for a minute or so and then he takes a nap and is not destructive. He doesn’t have the strongest bladder so he will definitely need a home where he can have a mid-day potty break! He is house trained but will leak a little urine when nervous or excited. He enjoys his walks and can go 2 to 3 kms with no issue (weather permitting of course!). Marcel doesn’t bark but he does scream, which he does everyday between 5:00 and 6:00am for no apparent reason. He knows some basic obedience but it’s not his strong point.

Marcel loves everyone he meets and gets excited meeting new dogs. He does not like visiting the vet however, nor does he like nail trims or having his ears cleaned. A prescription of trazodone from your vet to give him before these appointments would be a good idea!

Marcel had an accident that required surgery on his back leg as a puppy and his gait is slightly wonky because of this. He shouldn’t jump on and off of furniture nor should he go up and down stairs. A few steps in and out of the house are fine. Marcel is currently on a joint supplement and it seems to keep him comfortable. He may occasionally need to rest and take gabapentin if he overdoes it but other than that he is a happy and healthy boy!

Marcel is neutered, up to date on vaccines, lyme & heart-worm negative and he just had his stenotic nares successfully corrected!

We do allow out of town/province adoptions (with-in Eastern Canada and some eastern US states) as long as you are able to pick the dog up. We do not ship dogs. Currently being fostered near Gatineau, Quebec.

There is a $10 non-refundable application fee. This fee is considered a donation and helps offset the costs associated with caring for the dogs in our care. However, if you have applied to adopt from us in the last 12 months there is no need to reapply as long as your circumstances haven't changed. IF YOU HAVE APPLIED IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS you can send us an email stating the name of the dog you previously applied for and tell us in your email why you think Marcel is a good fit for your family.
