July 30, 2021 update
Cookie had his neuter yesterday and did great and his blood work looks awesome!
Next step will be to start reducing his medications and keeping our fingers crossed that his diarrhoea doesn’t come back.
If you’d like to help us with his extremely expensive bills you can donate directly on our website:
Or by paypal or etransfer to ecfbrescue@gmail.com
2 1/2 year old Cookie is not yet available for adoption. He is being fostered in the Ottawa area and adoption applications will only be available once he is ready to find his forever home.

2 1/2 year old Cookie also saw the vet today! He has gained 3 pounds already! They are very happy with his progress! We will be continuing on for another three weeks as is and then we will try to reduce some of his medication to get a better idea of if we are dealing with true IBD or actual food allergies that cause symptoms similar to IBD.

Cookie is improving in every way day by day! This week he actually started having the crazy puppy zoomies in the mornings! That is a wonderful sight to see! He is also much more playful and playing with toys and his foster family, clearly he is feeling much better!

You can help us help him and others like him by donating directly on our website:

We were told that this 2 1/2 year old boy suffered some terrible trauma while in a ‘board and train’ arrangement where a shock collar was used on him.
Cookie has what could be IBS, IBD, severe allergies, a severely unbalanced gut or a combo of things. He has been struggling with explosive bloody diarrhea for about a year! The previously healthy 28 lbs boy became emaciated weighing only 19 lbs this Spring! He has gained some weight back recently but he is still heartbreakingly thin. he still has horrible diarrhea, skin issues and is currently not eating a balanced diet.
Cookie screams at the top of his lungs when he sees strangers! He isn’t aggressive, just vocal, so we will also need to work at building his confidence up once we sort out his health issues.
Cookie will likely need some expensive tests, medications and possibly exploratory surgery as well as a neuter, so he needs your help!
From what we know he has been on raw, home-cooked, prescription food, premium kibble, pre-biotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, antibiotics, allergy meds. So far nothing helps so we will keep investigating.
Let’s give this handsome boy his quality of life back! He is a very lovable little man and deserves some relief
If you can spare a few dollars for Cookie we’d be grateful!

We will also hold a small auction in his honour so stay tuned for that! If you have anything you’d like to donate for us to auction off please send us a message!
Thank you!
